- Some photos from my Wind in the willows book cover project, Making my image from lots of leaves cut out of card and painted in different colours.
Looking at the idea of light and dark visually and within the story I wanted to blend the leaves from light yellowy greens to darkness of the shadows as if the deeper into the forest. I have chosen to use a white background to create contrast. Using natures natural colour scheme, I wanted to create a fresh and bright green that stands out and yet keeps in line with the classic environment associated with the story. I wanted to create my design using 3D layers of leaves to give more of a realistic effect and make it stand out, giving you the feel that you are not just looking at a book cover but looking into the book.
